One autumn afternoon a couple of years ago, I was sitting reading a novel by my bedside writer, comfortably seated in my favorite easy chair. I raised my head from reading to rest my eyes and came across my two twin boys playing the console.
In just seconds a torrent of memories of my childhood surrounded by adventure books passed through my head and I thought about what I would like to give to the boys the opportunity to have the same happy sensations that I enjoyed, spending entire afternoons chained to Tolkien, Conan Doyle , Verne or Enid Blyton.
As a pedagogue, I know perfectly that learning by modeling is the one that leaves the greatest imprint on our children and sets a good example, a necessary but not sufficient condition today to implement the desired behaviors. It is very difficult for a father in these times to compete with consoles, tablets, mobile phones, laptops, etc., but not impossible if we put all our effort into the company.
I have to admit that I have an advantage in this career, given my ability to write and my passion for reading, so I thought, why not create a book in which my own children were the protagonists of a great adventure and thus goad their curiosity encouraging them to leave the screens and prompting them to read?
Well, I have come this far. I hope that both parents and children enjoy reading this saga as I have done writing it and my children reading it.
